Andreas Raelert takes the win at the Keszthely-Triathlon

Superior success at the middle-distance event in Hungary – Offensive way of racing at Lake Balaton gives a lot of confidence

Keszthely. Andreas Raelert is heading into the rest of the season with a lot of confidence. In 3:47:05 hours, he won the Keszthely-Triathlon in Hungary in a superior way. "This race gives me a lot of self-confidence," said Andreas Raelert after the competition consisting of a 1.9 kilometer swim, a 90 kilometer bike ride and a 21.1 kilometer run. "It makes me think very positive, that I was able to put on such a performance two weeks after the Ironman South American Championship." Andreas Raelert won clearly ahead of the Austrian Thomas Steger, who needed 3:51:35 hours to finish in second place. Third place went to the Hungarian Flander Marton in 3:56:32, who crossed the finish line ahead of the Australian Brad Kahlefeldt, Badar Gergö from Hungary and Alessandro Degasperi (Italy).

Andreas Raelert already put himself into a top position during the swim. After 1.9 kilometers, the strong swimmer Csoke Balasz from Hungary reached the transition zone first in 25:02 minutes. But Andreas Raelert followed only 11 seconds later. "On the bike, I wanted to make the race offensive," he said later. Directly after leaving T1, Andreas Raelert pushed his pace. He was able to break away early from the rest of the field on the hilly course. With more than a four-minute lead Andreas Raelert reached the second transition ahead of the Austrian Thomas Steger, who is well-known as a strong cyclist. "This was a really good performance", explained Andreas Raelert talking about his bike split of 2:07:07 hours.

During the final half marathon, Andreas Raelert continued to race offensive and controlled the pace at the top of the field. "It was really fun here at Lake Balaton. This is a great race, "said the Rostockian. Although it was a cool day and it started raining on the second half of the run, this could not affect Andreas Raelert’s good mood. He ran the final half marathon in 1:09:53 hours. "I am very satisfied," said Andreas Raelert. He takes the victory in Keszthely as a motivation for the upcoming tasks in this season.
