Linz Triathlon

Michael Raelert is ready to start in Austria

Commitment to Linz Triathlon in Upper Austria this Saturday – Ironman-70.3-distance event is a good test on the way to the World Championship in August

Linz. On Saturday, Michael Raelert makes his first European race of the year. In Linz, Austria, he will try to win the title at the 11th edition of the Linz Triathlon. "I decided to take part in Linz in the past few days," says Michael Raelert one day out of the race over the Ironman-70.3-distance of 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike and 21.1 km run. "I think this race is just the right thing to be done for me."

Since he had a successful start into the season at the Challenge Dubai in late February, Michael Raelert slowed down a little. "After the race in Dubai there were two options," says Michael Raelert, "either to head quickly into the next competitions or to focus on solid training and a specific build-up for the season. I decided to take the second option to become even stronger. "Michael Raelert tries to gain his third World Championship title on August 30th at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Zell am See, Austria.

The course in Linz is a good opportunity for Michael Raelert to test his form after long weeks of training. "I'm fit, I’m really excited to race," says the 34-year-old. "I’m very glad and happy to be in Linz. People have been very nice and charming to me. I think the atmosphere on Saturday will be really good." The course offers quite a challenge in Linz: After the swim in the Lake Pleschinger See which is located in the northeast of the city centre, the field enters a demanding two-loop bike course and a flat run course. "For me, the race in Linz is absolutely new," says Michael Raelert, "I can’t wait to check this race out." He wants to pay back the warm welcome in Linz to the team behind the event with a strong performance.
