Michael: Disqualification in Henderson

Rostockian gets a penalty on the bike at the Ironman 70.3 Silverman – Referee’s decision means a great disappointment

Henderson. The Ironman 70.3 Silverman ended with a great disappointment for Michael Raelert. The Rostockian got disqualified in the race in Henderson, Nevada. "I am very frustrated,” said Michael Raelert after the race. He came out of the water in second place behind Cameron Dye and started to open up a gap together with the US-American on the bike. Due to drafting he eventually got disqualified while he was in second place.

"It is difficult for me to understand this decision," said Michael Raelert immediately after the race. "I know that referee's decisions are always a fact and such decisions have to be made under extreme time pressure. I can’t see, however, that I have made a mistake. From my perspective, I did not draft. I felt upset due to the penalty, this is why I finished the race." Michael Raelert crossed the finish line in first position, but this was besides the official results list.
